the idea was just the beginning

I have a confession.

I had this idea for an e-book. A real one : 73 pages, a five-step framework, everything. And for a long time it just lived in my head. I'd think about it, get excited about it, tell myself I was going to do it... and then life would happen and it would stay exactly where it was. In my head.

Sound familiar?

Here's the thing nobody tells you about ideas, having one is actually the easy part. It's the doing that trips us up. The figuring it out. The what-if-it-doesn't-work. The I-don't-even-know-where-to-start.

I wrote the e-book. And then I had to figure out the tech to actually get it out into the world. And honestly? The tech was harder. 😂

But I didn't give up. I troubleshot it and Googled it and asked for help and tried again. And then one day, it worked! And I jumped for joy. Literally.

And standing in that moment, all I could think about was how many ideas never make it out of someone's head. How many things stay stuck at "someday."

The Ideas I Hear About All the Time

I work with teens and young adults every day, and what I hear sounds something like this:

"I want to start a YouTube channel but I'm scared nobody will watch it or worse, that people will and then judge me."

"I've been thinking about trying out for the team for two years but I keep talking myself out of it before I even try."

"I want to text that person and actually make plans but what if it's awkward and ruins everything?"

"I have this idea for a business / an app / a creative project but I don't even know where to start so I just... don't."

"I want to switch directions — my major, my friend group, my whole path but what if I'm making the wrong choice?"

Do any of those land? Because I hear versions of them every single day.

The ideas are there. They are always there. But somewhere between the idea and the first step, something gets in the way.

Fear of failing. Fear of looking stupid. Fear of trying and having it not turn out the way they imagined. Fear that wanting something and not getting it would feel worse than never trying at all.

And so the idea just... sits there. Waiting for the "right time" that somehow never quite arrives.

I get it! I really do. Because I did the same thing with this e-book. I let it sit. I let the "what ifs" take up more space than the excitement for longer than I'd like to admit.

But Here's What I Know

Every big thing starts as a small step.

Sending one text. Showing up to one practice. Putting one thing on the page. Saying out loud for the first time…..this is something I actually want.

It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to be fully figured out. It just has to be started.

The e-book I almost talked myself out of? It's now called The Permission Slip and it's a guide for teens, young adults, and parents built around one simple idea: you have permission to pause, figure out where you are, and take your next step forward.

Because that's what I needed when I was sitting on my idea. Not someone to tell me it was going to be easy. Just someone to say, you can do this, and I'll be right here while you figure it out.

That's What I'm Here For

Think about it this way, you wouldn't train for a sport without a coach. Not because you aren't capable, but because a coach sees what you can't see from the inside. They push you when you want to quit, recalibrate you when you're off track, and celebrate every single win with you along the way.

Life works the same way.

Having someone in your corner — someone whose entire job is to help you get out of your own head and into action — isn't a luxury. It's one of the smartest things you can do for yourself.

Whether it's something that lights you up or something that scares you a little — that's exactly what I'm here for.

The "I have this idea and I don't know what to do with it" conversations. The "I want to try something new but I'm terrified" moments. The small brave steps that nobody else even notices but that change everything on the inside.

That's the work. And it is my favorite work.

The Permission Slip is done, it's free, and it is ready for you. If you've been sitting on an idea, big or small, this might be exactly what you need to take your first step.

And if you know a teen or young adult who has a million ideas and just needs someone in their corner to help them bring one to life, I'd love to be that person. Send them my way.

If this resonates and you'd like to talk about coaching for your teen or young adult, I'd love to connect — you can [book a session here] or follow along on Instagram [@carinrassier]  for more.
